Challenges

Let’s just say that the band’s wish list was unique. Creativity-wise, it was like throwing a lit match in a pool of gasoline. The idea was to design a buzz-creating website to promote the launch of the Rosé album. From what I recall, this is what BV3K had in mind: wild animals, a ghetto blaster, nature, reggae, neon, Saint-Laurent boulevard, aliens, New York, and musical instruments. Well…

Solutions

In order to blend all these ideas into an attractive package, we decided to rely on the talent of TKSH, a Collagène Agency illustrator who created five beautiful images for the site’s background. On the other hand, we weren’t going to let esthetics walk all over the site’s ergonomics, which we studied in careful detail. From shadow to light, TKSH’s enigmatic frescoes could be navigated by web users, freely making their way from St-Laurent’s night-lit alleys to techno ice drifts and polar bears.

Results

Upon launching, the site was a huge success. As useful a tool as they get, the site’s audio player allowed thousands of web users to get acquainted with BV3K’s sound. Brilliantly illustrated by TKSH, the project also allowed us to win an Applied Arts Commercial Illustration Award in 2008.
